Our thanks to Tony Higgins of W J Higgins and Son at Middlegate Farm for hosting an open day looking at the effects of changing machinery policy and reducing establishment costs on a Somerset farm.
Under scrutiny was how crops and agronomy are affected when reduced input establishment methods of the Sumo DTS are used. What was most apparent to the visiting growers was the quality of the crops following the DTS especially on headlands and fields that had previously had heavy traffic.
As a rough figure, this grower is saving around £20/acre in cost compared to his old system, another reason to choose Sumo!
Thanks to Tony and also Sumo Drill Specialist Marcus Ainley and Sumo Southern Area Manager Richard Hales for an informative and enjoyable afternoon.
